How to transfer/capture footage from camcorder to computer?

Hey, I just brought a firewire cable today because I want to transfer the contents on my DV tape onto my computer. I use a mac desktop btw.

Nothing is going to “pop up” on the computer.

You did not tell us which Mac, but it is likely you need to manually install the “Apple Intermediate Code” – this is a custom install of this specific QuickTime component using the system discs that came with the computer.

With the camcorder in “Play” or “VCR” mode, launch iMovieHD… it will open to a blue “Camcorder is Connected” screen. Clic import or rewind… or whatever…
